Parks and Recreation:

Facilities include Recreation Center, 13 local parks with playgrounds in each (supervised during the summer), athletic fields, 12 public tennis courts, 4 public swimming pools, 1 outdoor ice skating rink, and a Senior Cititzens Service Center. A full time recreation director is employed. Programs for both kindergartners through 12th grade and adults include Teaneck Baseball Org.: 201-837-9631, Teaneck Jr. Soccer: 201-833-0469, Teaneck Little League: 201-833-2332, and Teaneck Swim Club: 201-836-1977.

Town History:

The seventh largest and most populous municipality in Bergen County, Teaneck has a unique blend of cultures, languages, and ethnicity's. Originally inhabited by Hackensack Indians, it was settled by Dutch Colonists in the 1600's and incorporated as the township in 1895. It claims some of the oldest homes in America and gained national notoriety in the 1960's when it became the first community in the county to vote for integrated schools.
